North Somerset Art Trail

Wondering around a few art trail venues in Flax Bourton, (6mlies/Bristol) on a pleasant Sunday afternoon, a new artist Adrienne Hughes was discovered. Hughes work is vibrant, full of colour and energy.  Whilst my own work leans to  trees, seascapes engaging earthy colours with hints of brightness. Hughes uses masses of rich brightness. To be recommended, especially when afternoon tea is served in a peaceful and relaxing garden delight. www.wix.com/adrienne_hughes/adrienne-hughes-art. Poetry Festival Cheltenham

Last Sunday I went to Cheltenham Poetry Festival 2013. This is a festival that has grown from strength to strength, now in it's third year. It was a tour -de-force attending six events, listening to 12 poets. Starting in the morning David Clarke (GAUD 2012) & Jennie Farley's dialogue about sex and secret passions. Next up Alwyn Marriage & John Daniel, who amused their audience with tales of aging humour. Then Liz Berry's treacle dialectic voice covered bird fancying and hardship. Claire Dyer shared with us some of her latest material. Rosie Bailey & Ann Drysdale wit stormed the audience and left all wanting to hear more. Finally Christopher Reid & Angela France presented heart wrenching comic war poetry and strange interactions tainted with thrills.
