Hughes work is vibrant, full of colour and energy. Whilst my own work leans to trees, seascapes engaging earthy colours with hints of brightness. Hughes uses masses of rich brightness. To be recommended, especially when afternoon tea is served in a peaceful and relaxing garden delight. www.wix.com/adrienne_hughes/adrienne-hughes-art. This is a festival that has grown from strength to strength, now in it's third year. It was a tour -de-force attending six events, listening to 12 poets. Starting in the morning David Clarke (GAUD 2012) & Jennie Farley's dialogue about sex and secret passions. Next up Alwyn Marriage & John Daniel, who amused their audience with tales of aging humour. Then Liz Berry's treacle dialectic voice covered bird fancying and hardship. Claire Dyer shared with us some of her latest material. Rosie Bailey & Ann Drysdale wit stormed the audience and left all wanting to hear more. Finally Christopher Reid & Angela France presented heart wrenching comic war poetry and strange interactions tainted with thrills.
© mary crowder
Mary Crowderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05566046427339093572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8946600478844887471.post-4149324981669575972011-06-14T15:47:00.001+01:002011-07-02T09:23:47.155+01:00Exhibition: For my nursing careplanA snapshot from my latest exhibition: For my nursing careplan.

In this degree show you will find examples of work from practitioners who have collectively produced this exhibition as a testament to the diverse range of practices that have sprung from a shared desire to explore a wide range of approaches to making work. At times, this multidisciplinary environment created challenges, but, from experience, we often learnt that exposure to another's way of doing things enhanced and supported each individual's personal development. The collective good to explore, understand and develop professionally is what held everyone together and this created an refreshing atmosphere in which every played, researched, processed, practised, created and collectively exhibited. This is a show by practitioners who were and will continue to be prepared to take risks despite the uncertainty of such exploration. The practitioners' whose work you will see here, pushed and pulled their practices to breaking point and beyond and so the Results, proudly and obstinately May indeed Vary.
For my nursing careplan.

The poetic narratives let the reader see visual interpretations of how the poet thinks.

For my nursing careplan was created in response to prescriptive nursing workplace careplans that solely record the factual element of care. It breaks the boundaries of medical convention by inscribing personal workers’ memories and feelings onto official documents of own in-patient records and x-rays. All of which remain invisible until either switched on or opened to expose their proscriptive content.

© mary crowder
Mary Crowderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05566046427339093572noreply@blogger.com0
